Hi Donovan. Thanks for reading. I am a little puzzled as to why they would advise you to drop chlorine to zero. It also sounds like your local pool shop is no different than many of the large chain pool stores here in the US. They are sales driven and will make sure to sell you whatever they can. I am guessing also that your pool is equipped with a salt chlorine generator? If anything, I would add enough liquid chlorine to bring the level up at least a little bit. Filtration will be the key to clearing up the cloudy water. Clean the cartridge often. If all else fails, you can use a floccing agent which binds the particles in the water together and then drops everything to the bottom of the pool leaving the water clear but with debris on the bottom. This method requires the ability to be able to vacuum to waste. The filter will not catch this and most of the sediment will shoot back into the pool when vacumming. If you can bypass the filter and vacuum to waste, this solution works well. Hope this helped.

I have a 24ft round above ground. Currently the biggest headache in my life. Yesterday I took a water sample to a local pool place and she said my water chemistry looked good but my chlorine was basically nonexistent (which I figured since my pool is green). So I bought the recommended 2 bags of shock with algae crystals in it and added to my pool yesterday. Today almost 24 hours later, no change. Someone please help! I have been fighting my water for over a month.

But on the morning of May 22nd the Gunjur community woke to discover that the Bolong Fenyo lagoon had turned a cloudy crimson overnight. Dead fish floated on the surface. “Everything is red,” one local reporter wrote, “and every living thing is dead.” Some residents wondered if the apocalyptic scene was an omen delivered in . More likely, water fleas in the lagoon had turned red in response to sudden changes in pH or oxygen levels. Soon, there were reports that many of the area’s birds were no longer nesting near the lagoon.

Throughout this article, you will see two pieces of advice repeated no matter the cause of your cloudy water. First, you need to perform a partial water change. This will dilute the dissolved chemicals and waste in the water and make it a safer environment for your fish.

Overstocked fish tanks have multiple issues. Aside from behavior clashes and stress for the fish themselves, the tank conditions in an overstocked tank can often deteriorate to a toxic environment which can result in cloudy tank water.

@Laur – I guess it is possible the tank is still cycling and you have a big bacterial bloom, though water conditioner shouldn't make your water cloudy under normal circumstances. Are you testing your water? You can either give it a few days and see if it clears up, or since you have no fish you can replace the water and start over.

Hi Carol. It doesn't seem soft water in itself should cause the cloudy tank issue. You mention using over-the-counter additives weekly. How often are you doing water changes? If you are doing them weekly, especially if you are vacuuming the gravel each time, I'm wondering if you'd have some luck if you backed off to every-other week or even monthly. If you are decimating the microbe colonies in your tank each week they may not be recovering enough to keep up with the waste processing. Good luck!

Little told me that during development, he spent the majority of the engineering effort on carefully calibrating the exact dimensions of the device. The stainless steel cup is actually double-walled. This means that it insulates the water in the lower portion of the device much more than a standard metal container would. That's how the device keeps the bottom portion from freezing until the top has frozen first.
